The Euro-Asia All Star Series event was a two-day team competition organized by the Asian and the European Table Tennis Unions and the Philippe Saive Management company. During two days, this unique meeting brought together the best table-tennis players in the world at Mons Arena: the world number one Ma Long (China) and number two Timo Boll (Germany), Joo Se Hyuk (Korea), Samsonov (Belarus) and Jean-Michel Saive (Belgium), just to name of new. The Euro-Asia Cup event has been broadcasted in full HD by BETV and by CCTV – the major State Television Broadcaster in mainland China – as well as by four other international networks like Sport Eins, for the enjoyment of hundreds of millions TV-viewers all over the world. Even in difficult low light conditions, the team of operators (cameraman, video engineer and slow-motion operators) – a team of reference since its members took part in the FIFA World Cup 2010 – used the SprintCam Vvs HD system unique capacity from 200 to 400 frames per second, providing slow-motion video sequences of extraordinary quality and clarity. “On BETV, as it was the case in many other foreign countries, the SprintCam Vvs HD system has considerably improved the live broadcast production of the EURO-ASIA 2010 table-tennis cup. Many slow-motion close-ups have been captured and live broadcasted between the sets and matches. These images brought to light moments that we would otherwise miss: how the paddles were handled by the players, the expressions on their faces, their footworks, the muscular (arms and legs) efforts, the decisive ball moves near the net or at the edge of the table, etc. It was a “first” for BETV, and we do hope it won’t be the last time we will use such an ultra slow motion solution!!” José Bouquiaux, Head of Sports Production, BETV.
