Digital contributions to the MEDIA 10/10 Festival Print

During the last Media 10/10 Festival in Namur, a festival which has more than 30 years of history and presence in the world of short films in the French Community, we, as a member of the press jury, had the occasion to immerse ourselves into a blossoming cinema, which reveals new talent. We were able to see many high quality films and will here relate the key notes in terms of technologies and digital applications.

Contributions in digital technologies
The new digital technologies are at the heart of today's audiovisual economy. So it was interesting to see which uses and treatments the directors had put forward during this competition. Here is a first film which makes excellent use of these technologies: Artificial Paradise - Inc (by Jean-Paul Frenay, Production Frenay-Condor, Brussels) - http://vimeo.com/6132324 and http://www.realflow.com/n_cs_aparadise.htm
But other short films also used digital very well. We can only advise you to keep a close eye on the works of the main schools in the French Community, to see more than promising content creators for our entire industry (Clicked, Media Diffusion – IAD, Louvain-La-Neuve). A film which is also impressive by its form, Petite Anatomie de l'Image (http://www.smolderscarabee.be – see illustrations), whose image was done by Louis-Philippe Capelle.
A few winners
All enroled producers and directors represent our audiovisual sector very well.
Here are some winners of the festival:

Jazzed (by Anton setola - La Boîte…productions - Brussels)
Press Award
Les Amateurs (by Jean-Frédéric EERDEKENS, production Climax Films, Brussels)
Just a note on the press jury's choice: Les Amateurs is a well-rounded film, it scored points for its scenario, the image, the nervous editing, its soundtrack, its actor directing and its rather personal atmosphere. We can place it in the same vein as a new Belgian cinema which is still emerging and is still searching its place in our system (such as Les Barons f.e.).
The film 'Les Amateurs' is clearly part of this strategy which will push our cinema forward. A must see, here are some images and the atmosphere of Les Amateurs on http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=31973238548&ref=mf
Eye Candy
More than 50 films were shown, and we have been able to discover very different worlds which impose a high level of technical mastership. Without wanting to make arbitrary choices, we wanted to present the animated film Allons-y! Alonzo! (by Camille Moulin-Dupré, production La Boîte... Production, Brussels), because it really catches the eye (and other things):

The Media 10/10 festival is a very nice adventure with interesting exchanges and where trends are created and kept up. It's a must for culture in the French Community. Congratulations to the festival's crew.
