| The Pôle Image dedicates training courses to sound |

As of right now, three 140 day courses (duration without taking the internships into account) are scheduled in the next three years. The first one will start this 1 April, in the offices of Signal Flow. "We actually received 180 candidatures for 12 slots," Olivier Gustin, the project's coordinator, explains. "That is rather encouraging and shows there is a real interest for this kind of initiative." The selection criteria include passion, of course, but also the professional goals. "This training course is aimed at jobseekers. Going through it must end in a job opportunity," Georges Nikolaïdis, ICT manager at Technifutur Liège adds. This is also the reason why 20 days of the course will be reserved for coaching with the jobseeking process. "That said, direct collaborations with companies are absolutely conceivable..." Each student will benefit from working with a personal working station (Imac with Waves, Sonnox and Native Instruments Komplete, Protools, etc. software suites). Moreover, they will have access to a production studio. The programme includes notions of acoustics, of sound recording for TV, radio, documentaries, sonorization and sound design. Finally, attention is also paid to the entire sound post-production chain related to the image (mixing, sound effects, etc.), some notions of music and the Protools certification, as of yet unique in Belgium. A group of teachers, each specialised in a defined domain, will accompany the students. Companies are also associated with the project, notably offering internships, which are obligatory. There have been contacts with the RTBF, SonicVille, Dame Blanche, RTL, etc. in order to ask them to have our students. Which they accepted.

Technifutur has been offering training courses on audiovisual subject matters for a while now. Wanting to keep up with the development of the region and the dynamic of the sector, the competence center set up shop on the premises of the Pôle Image in order to accommodate the set-up of a different kind of course. By 14 March, the training course organised by Mikros will finish up to let the students do their internships. Less than two weeks later the classes on Digital Audio Production and Protools Certification start two levels down at the Pôle Image. Technifutur decided to collaborate with a young Liège-based company named Signal Flow for the organisation of this class.
