5Di - The 'new-generation' Interactive Cinema from Alterface
Alterface brings its interactive brick to Kingdom Quest, the Interactive Dark Ride opens at the new Legoland Discovery Center in Manchester
Opened on 22nd of March, the Legoland Discovery Center in Manchester is located under the roof of The Trafford Center, a well-known indoor shopping mall. In the next few years, Merlin Entertainments Group, owner of the Lego brand, aims to open many centers like this in the heart of major cities worldwide. For its first UK site, Merlin Entertainments is calling on 3DBA to create an interactive dark ride based on the Lego medieval theme. ETF provided the themed vehicles, while Threshold produced the film and scenery. Alterface once again provided the interactivity and show control (projection, sound system, shooting system, scoring, and special effects). Today the company's technology enables people to interact with the projection screens and to shoot at the physical targets dotted around the scenery. Individual scores are shown to players in real time (via the displays) and special effects are triggered by the shots. The adventure invites players to help free the princess held prisoner by an invading army. Just a few weeks after this ride’s operational launch, the feedback already coming in is very positive. Kingdom Quest looks set to become one of the key attractions at Legoland Discovery Center in Manchester! Kingdom Quest in brief:
theHouse arrives in Europe
In early June, in the Tusenfryd park in Norway, Alterface did inaugurate its first interactive haunted house in Europe. This unique attraction brings together 3D images, special effects, animatronics, interactivity and an impressive rotating platform that guides the players facing the screens. New video sequences, a new sound track plus new and increasingly spectacular pop-up effects emphasize the terrifying atmosphere in this new kind of attraction! Entitled 'Nightmare' in Norway, the attraction benefits from all these new improvements already implemented in Branson, Missouri, where the 'Castle of Chaos' made a huge and positive impression last summer. In Tusenfryd, a whole wall is filled with physical targets that react to shots. This makes 'Nightmare' an even more special attraction!
